MOEMS

The MOEMS group is currently working with local and international partners on projects such as MOEMS for laser display technology and biological applications. The Research Council of Norway also funds a user-driven research-based innovation project involving the group´s researchers called “Hybrid Integrated Components for Optical Display Systems” (HICFODS). The goal of this effort is to develop integrated optical components and hybrid MOEMS devices for compact motionless speckle reduction. In addition, the group has a project called MEMS-DeSpeck,  funded by the Oslofjordfond, in which new MOEMS devices for speckle reduction are being developed.

The group is also involved in a project called “Optical Functions and Lab-on-a-Chip for Microparticles and Biomedicine”, which has as its goal the creation of new optical functions for microparticles and cells that are controlled by optical waveguides. This involves studying the optical properties of particles and collections of particles in the evanescent field of an optical waveguide and developing new optical functions based on these properties.
The group is also involved in a project funded by the Swedish Research Council on Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSEL) for high bit-rate optical fiber communication. The goal is to design and fabricate 40 Gb/s GaAs based transistor VCSEL.
