Delta-Sigma data converters

The resolution of conventional data converters is limited by the accuracy of the components in the converter. One way to increase this resolution is to use a well-established technique called Delta-Sigma oversampling. This group has developed an alternative Delta-Sigma modulator without global feedback that is well suited for implementation in a standard CMOS. The alternative topology offers improved performance with respect to resolution and simplicity. Among the research projects conducted by this group is an examination of multi-phase counting first-order frequency-based delta-Sigma modulators, and process variations in sub-threshold SRAM Cells in 65nm CMOS.
