Record participation at Workshop 2019

Our tenth annual conference, Workshop 2019 in Tromsø, from 17 – 19 June, was a success in every way. Even the weather, which according to the weather forecasts for a long time seemed like it was going to be failing us, came through. The participants arriving on Sunday and Monday descended to a panorama of clear blue skies and white-capped mountains surrounding the strait.

There were many who wanted to experience the delights of Tromsø. Altogether, 107 participants were registered at the conference, held at Clarion Hotel the Edge. This is the highest number of participants since we started arranging the workshops in 2010.  During the conference, we heard 10 talks from invited speakers from academia and industry and 29 talks from PhD and post doc members of the network. The poster session on Monday afternoon comprised 14 presentations from PhD and post doc members.

On Tuesday evening we had dinner at an excellent fish restaurant in Tromsø, Fiskekompaniet, followed by an excursion to Fjellheisen, the cable car that goes to the top of Storsteinen. Some of the more sporting took the opportunity to walk to the top, using the sherpa stairs that were completed as late as fall 2018.
